Building a new PC and windows

Hi all, hope your all well.

Ive got a question (but wasn't entirely sure where to post it, as its to do with both
hardware and windows software). Anyway, here goes.

I have a spare P4 sitting in the loft and was going to give it to my flat mate.

(I've allready given him my old P3 last year. Hes not a big PC user, just email,
web surfing and a bit of music. So the P3 has suited him so-far).

Anyway, I'm all for an easy life, and was wondering if I can whack in the P4 motherboard
into his current tower, and connect the current HD without having to re-install XP?

I suspect not, but I thought I'd ask here first.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The best way to do it is to do a repair install IMMEDIATELY after changing it over.

If you try booting it without doing so it will almost certainly screw up the disk.

Also it is a good idea to un-install as many of the peripherals as possible on the old system before disconnecting the old mobo.
